Emily Dew-- You, my young friend, have been played like a fine tuned fiddle by Wall street. Advertisers know that men don't give a CRAP about how things LOOK, but women DO! Therefore, products are DISPLAYED to appeal to the fairer sex. Sorry, but you've been "had" by big business, and didn't even know it...!!!

I think the rule should be fair to everyone...I believe EVERYONE should close the lid. Everyone is inconvenienced by this equally and nobody falls in in the middle of the night this way. I know many guys will say if we turn on the light we won't fall in, but they will also whine if we turn on the light and disturb their sleep. Everyone, just close the lid...nobody gets hurt, everyone has to move something, nobody falls in and you don't have to gross out about the dog using it for a water bowl.

I like the toilet bowl to be shut !! That way gross bacteria aren't coming out of the toilet and getting into your stuff such as toothbrushes, towels, etc. (and this does happen!) It's just common courtesy for the men to put the toilet seat down, ladies first..Plus that isn't a problem in my home because I like the seat and the lid to be shut at all times, that ways it's easier - every man for himself !
Hope I helped :)

Let me ask you a question. When you go to buy a toilet, are the seats down or up? They're down and the reason for that is because that's the way they are meant to be. When I go to buy a refrigerator, all the refrigerators displayed do not have their doors open. Same thing when I go to buy a stove or a dryer or a dishwasher or even a car. They are displayed in the way they are meant to be used ... with the seat DOWN.

Yes indeed. The toilet seat in the down position is indicative of the chaotic model of the universe while the seat in an up position represents an ordered universe. So who is tidier than whom?

I know, right? And why can't we remember to put the milk back under our beds instead of in the fridge? Why can't we remember to store our toothbrushes on top of our TVs? Why can't we remember to park our cars 3 doors down instead of in our garage?

Everything has it's own place!! Your toilet seat lid's is DOWN :)

And what makes you so lazy that you can't place it up? Do you have a problem lifting? With all the problems and strife around you, the focus is on whether the toilet seat is down when it should be up? God Help Us!!

The way I see it, there is usually only one situation in which the toilet seat would need to be up - if a man is peeing. There are three situations in which it would need to be down - if a man is doing #2, a woman is doing #2, or a woman is peeing. It just seems more logical to me to leave it down.

toilet has a lid for a reason, as lids are meant to be closed. toilets came from England during WWI and the originals had lids. if it was not meant to be closed, why install a lid? a man did invent the toilet after all.... John Crapper.
