Try to ask her nicely why she is not buckling her baby in the car, then maybe politely suggest that she should. If she doesn't listen then you should call law enforcement or social services.

wow. That's horrible. If you don't feel comfortable telling the mom about the risks, at least tell your friend that it is VERY unsafe, and illegal, also that it has many consequences. If the mom ignores it, you might have to turn it in to the county, or law enforcement, because that is so dangerous! So she just sets the baby in the carseat without buckling it? Everytime? That is just bizarre that someone would do such a thing!

uh NO....you should say something.....as to what the first poster said to mind your own business it will most certainly be on your mind if her mother has a car accident and that child is hurt or killed

i would say something about how it worries you that something could happen to the both of them and if she needs some help with her carseat the firefighters are more than willing to help her work the carseat correctly and explain to her the dangers of not using it correctly

show her some videos on youtube of carseat crash test dummies

look up some news stories about children ejected from cars that were not buckled into a child restraint system

good luck and don't let it scare you to speak up

If I was you I would call the cops and tell them but not let her know that you are the one that called them so she doesnt get mad at you. But this is very dangerous. Babies have to be buckled in a carseat. It is a LAW!!!

tell her it is against the law and that she could get in a lot of trouble, even if you feel weird about it just do it or how else would you feel if they ever got in a car accident and that baby got killed, and then you would regret not mentioning it. Just tell her it is for the safety of her baby and she should be buckled up as well.

what's even worse, more people are killed when the people riding in the back seats WITHOUT belts, are thrown into
the front seat over the driver and 'shotgun' seats - and break their (front seater's) necks

yeah - we wear belts
had the purple spots to prove why we are alive (no air bags then)
(Pontiac T-1000 aka glorified chevette - broadsided a Ford f150 pick up at 45 mph when the driver pulled out in front of us)

NEVER call c.p.s. unless there is real abuse(physical or mental, not for bad choices) I've been through c.p.s., and they still have my son after two years for him not being in a car seat . these people are ruthless baby stealer's that profit from ripping families apart. Intervention from a friend or family is all she needs, not to lose her baby!!!!! How would you feel if she lost her baby for two years of his or her life because you were to afraid to speak up and called the cops.Stop being a coward and tell her how you feel!!!

This will sound harsh, but ask her if she could live without her baby if she dies in an accident. She is being negligent with her child and if she continues to put the child in danger REPORT her to child protective services.
