density is mass over volume. So mass divided by the volume. You would need both the mass of the object, and the space (volume) it occupies.

You could just measure the weight of the substance in air and also in water ( assuming it sinks ).

Density = Mass / Volume

Mass :the objects mass
Volume: height x width x length (should be cubic something eg. conic cm, cubic ft)
