Have you tried using socketlock? it's the second download on this page. the first download is also useful.

Once you are able to stay online, you should try doing a full system scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com to find and eliminate the malware.

You failed to mention what version of windows you are using so may not be much help. If you can't get on line for only a moment then hard to down load a fix. If what ever anti-virus software you are using can't find it and fix it and you haven't bothered to save a back-up, you may be SOL unless you have a local shop that can help you. When ever I set up a clients system, I always generated a WIN98 folder and put all the cab files in it so if they had to re-load a file with out the disc, they could. If you are using 98 or 98SE (and I am guessing you are) try running the system file checker and see if that helps. All you have to do is go to "run" and type in "sfc".
Hope this helps.

Download, install, update and run this first...

superantispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com
Remove all it finds-

Certain infections (NewDotNet and Webhancer are two of the culprits) insert their own segments into the Winsock chain-
When the software gets removed the chain gets broken (a link is missing) and is no longer continuous.

Running LSP-fix tool will re-arrange the Winsock links in proper order and put them back into numerical order. Essentially, repairing the chain.

Simple instructions for using the tool and the tool download link are located at the site below:

Note:
Download the tools onto a 'flash drive' from a friend's computer and transfer to yours..then install.

Hope this helps.

Use protection,
your computer will thank you.

sounds like you have virus or spyware that is doing this. what you need to do is restart your pc and when it starts to boot click over & over untill gives you the option to run in safe mode. the F-8 key. then use the arrow keys to move up to sfae mode with net working and then click the enter key. then you can run the scan with out it stoping. and I recomend this free tool to clean and keep it running fast and freeze free. http://www.iobit.com good luck
