In my opinion, it would have been better, because she would have done nowhere near as well on the heels of his becoming the first elected President to be impeached. American's wouldn't have had enough time to forget about that little tidbit, but I bet she thought of that.

No; nobody would have voted for her then. They were ready for a Republican (not that they got much...), and NOT yet ready for a woman.
Thanks to eight years of Bush, however, people in general are ready for ANYTHING to get that moron out of office! I think she'll get elected; for that matter, I think whoever the Democrats run will get elected, thanks in no small part to Bush and his total idiocy.
