You'll probably know the DEM candidate after Super Tuesday (February 5th, I believe) and all things are pointing towards a Hillary and Obama showdown.
The REP side might take till March as Romney is winning the first four primary states (NH, Iowa, SCarolina and Nevada) but Guiliani is doing well nationwide.
I hope you have the stomach for it. It's gonna be a very long election year.

Since there seems to be some kind of race to see which state can have the first primary the leading candidates will probably have the necessary delegates by March. I think the states, by trying to get an advantage are actually screwing themselves and screwing all of us out of an interesting primary season.

Officially, in the Summer (conventions). Unfortunately, the mainstream media will try to name the candidates before then. Hopefully Ron Paul will be the nominee. :)

There are never only two Presidential candidates. We will know the Republican and Democratic nominees after the primaries are over.

The network talking heads will tell us who it will be by the middle of January. Hopefully the American people will not listen to them and vote their own choice. We are limited with only two political parties, but we still have a choice.

I don't want to seem like I'm being rude but the fact that everybody thinks there are only 2 candidates really pisses me off. The 2 party system is one of the main reasons things are so messed up now. We will know that Ron Paul will be President by March 08 to answer your question.

That is determined by the delegates at each convention next summer.
