I WAS HOPING THEY WILL PULL THROUGH, BUT THEY DIDN'T.

If England can't beat Macedonia at Old Trafford this debacle was always coming. Even the defeat in Russia would have been incidental. The Croatia game should have been a stroll in the park exhibition game rather than a leave it too late desperation encounter. I'm just surprised that Croatia were so much up for the game when already qualified and only pride in performance was at stake for them. Perhaps a couple of million quid donation from the FA to the Croations or a reminder to a certain Arsenal player where his loyalties lay would have saved England!

I knew it was coming. I even posted the question to all the British fan last year. You have to have a good manager and good players. If you have a good manager but the players don't perform up to par, then they totally get eliminated like it happened to England. Of course, the Brits are going to blame the manager but it doesn't matter anymore. They will be watching the Euro cup from home next year and I'm predicting that if things don't improve for the team, WE WILL MISS THE WORLD CUP IN 2010.

i knew they are not very good. but i didn't expect them being that terrible. i thought they would qualify because of the easy group that they are in.

they wouldn't have been out long time ago if they were in a different group.

mcclaren will be gone before we know it. the english FA is probably making calls in searching for a suitable coach.

they really need to reform their team for WC 2010. but this is a good wake up call for the english team. i think they will come back strong for WC 2008 if they can find a good coach that is willing to make changes. lots of changes need to be made for the english team to get better.

I didn't see it come at all. They were dominating the match all he way long though it's a big mistake to have put Carson. Who to blame? Of course McClaren, I can't blame the players because they were really playing well, the players had bad luck that's all.

I thought they'd lose too, England are decreasing instead of increasing that's so sad for England fans. Somehow England can't get young scorers they have great MID and DEF and not that bad GK but at ST they truly suck after Owen's injury and a team without scorers is nothing:(

I did see it coming but as an Englishman i believed that we would turn things around. Mclaren is to blame, his tactics were crap, his system was crap and he could not motivate the players. He played the same midfield (second half) today that has not worked in the last two years. He held an umbrella to protect him from the rain like a softie today. Doubt my grandma would do that if she was in charge.

And Beckham was benched in the first half....which - since I live in the U.S. - is another indication that the star is fading quickly for the player who was supposed to bring new prominence to MLS. The team just was not good enough...all hype, no bite.

Everyone in the world saw it coming. Even a two year old baby saw it coming. It was like asking if I shoot three hundred bullets into my head what are the chances of living happily ever after ?

it goes back to WC 2006, sven squandered in his squad selection, beckham wasnt in good form but played anyway, the press called for his head, sven got caught with his pants down and resigned, mclaren inherited a dodgy side and felt he had to drop beckham - it sparked his return to form in the spring, not soon enough to save his national side which desperately needed his experience, it never helps that the england strikers cant stay fit and no one has faith in defoe or bent, not even club side, so they lack experience, john terry is to devoted and tries to play through injuries and ends up being injured even longer, the list goes on....but if i had to blame one person, it would be robinson.
