I'm sorry, I should have qualified. Yes, it is the day JFK was assassinated. I am asking how you think it changed the course of history.

PLOMZA, as a non American, you probably have no clue. The even defintitely changed the world. How it changed the world, for better or worse, is certainly subject to debate. Saying it had no effect is simply more Anti-American drivel.

We went from the "ideal" presidential couple to the imperial one who got very rich from the office. We went from joyously and innocently entering the Vietnam War to entering it with fear. We went from a president who chased the women to one who craved power. We went from a president who governed by his good looks to one who tried to buy his way to popularity (guns and butter). We went from a president who officially promoted family values while having women delivered to his back door to a president who established the "Great Society" which encouraged single pregnant women to remain single so as to join the welfare roles and be Dependant on the government and. therefore, to vote "correctly" in order to maintain their "benefits". The country went from feeling good about itself to looking at ourselves as the cause of all evil in the world, courtesy of the news media. We lost our sense of purpose.

I think the war in Vietnam would have gone much differently. Even though Kennedy sent the initial troops he had no plans to keep the troops there. He was a very smart man and I believe he saw the folley in trying to control that situation. Had the war not happened it could very well have affected whether or not Richard Nixon was elected. There would be no reason to interrupt the democrats and it is very likely we could have had Johnson in 1968 until 1976 or even Bobby Kennedy.
So many things were lost that day. He was my hero.

Are you sure it changed history? As a non-American, I certainly don't think it did. It is an important event in history that had implications as other answerers had quite rightly mentioned. But it definitely did not change history.
There two books out there named "What If" and "More What If". Very interesting reading about how events changed (??) history. But at the end of the day, all of these are part of history - including Nov. 22, 1963 - and should be seen as such.

That's the day the '60's started. Young people saw their hero gunned down and never trusted an older person again. We took our fates, our destinies into our own hands. We developed our own heroes (the Beatles, Dylan, the Stones) and turned our backs on our parent's generation. So, yeah, the world would be a much different place if the '60's hadn't happened, and it all started when Oswald pulled the trigger.

I believe the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated was the day the world lost hope for world peace. I think that had he lived the world and it's people would have been united as one.

actually everyone else can say what they opt for yet i trust that it changed into LBJ, J Edgar Hoover, and others contained in the FBI. Oh yeah, in case you watch the action pictures. It changed into no longer the first impact that did the most harm, If Jackie had no longer sat him decrease back up contained in the seat the shooter would not were waiting to hit him with the killing shot.

I think JFK was very overrated. His presidency relied on slick presentation more than substance.
