I heard they have, but 500gb? I want one that gets its power from my laptop.

No.

Desktop hard drives require more power than the USB connector can supply and right laptop hard drives (which can run on USB power) aren't available in 500 GB capacity.

No... and it's a good thing they don't. It would sap all your laptop's batter power. You have to plug it into an electrical outlet.
