It sounds so condescending.
Of course, this question probably applies mainly to guys. Girls don't get called "Buddy" too often.

Well girls getting called all kinds of stupid names some I can't even say on here. But sweetie gets on my nerves and honey tooo I mean I ain't none of those things. Ok maybe im sweet but still.LOL And yeah bud and buddy is kind stupid too.LOL I like other names for guys.

I think "hey lady" is equivalent to being called "buddy".

I had an old man call me "sonny boy" once. Talk about condescending! He was in his late hundreds too!

i don't get called "bud" or "buddy". but i really don't like it when someone says to me "hey girl!", or "wassup girl", it sounds so dumb, it's like, YOU KNOW MY NAME! my name is not "GIRL".
