A woman can expect to lose the weight of the baby plus fluid weight. Also, it takes a lot of energy to give birth so she'll lose a few pounds just from the labor. Any other weight that she gained over the pregnancy will slowly come off over the next 6 to 9 months. If she breast feeds the baby the weight will come off faster because her body will store some fat just for breast feeding and if she doesn't nurse the baby it's more difficult to lose. Generally, within 6 to 9 months she'll be in as good of shape as she was before she got pregnant and sometimes better shape. And before you ask, yes, her skin will all snap back like it was before.

The amount of weight loss immediately following delivery will vary. In this case at least 12 # ( a very large baby), but you do have to consider too the tremdous amount of water loss during the birthing process. It is not impossible for a woman who gained 35# during her pregnancy, birth a 7 # baby and reurn to her prepregancy weight in just a couple of days.

When I was in labor, I went to the hospital weighing 132 lbs and after my son was born (he was 7 lbs) I weighed 117. So yes you lose the weight of the baby and the weight of the fluids and placenta etc but you don't walk out of the hospital weighing what you weighted before you were pregnant.

I think it's pretty safe to say, the weight of the baby that is no longer inside is lost immediately. But the weight your body takes on as a result of having a human inside of you will take some time to go away.

That is a really hard question to answer. And it is not stupid. I gained 19 lbs. with my oldest and lost 24 lbs. in the first 2 days after he was born. With my youngest, I gained 16 and lost 19 in the first 3 days.

No, it does not go like that for everyone.

Women retain water from the pregnancy for about 10 days.

If they breast feed, there will be increased breast tissue = increased weight.

Usually about a month from giving birth you start to loose that extra baby weight, but it is a slow process for some
