No way.
No it wouldn't be better.
There would be NO U.S.A.
We would probably all be under the rule of some European TYRANNY.
It would have started when the North American continent broke up into several weak and feuding small nation-states and degraded into easily conquered feudal tribes dominated by more powerful nations like Germany.
The entire WORLD would suffer as a result. There would be NO hope of freedom for mankind.
God MUST love America.
Give THANKS!

At the time, what happened was for the best. But since then, it hasn't had that much affect on today's world. The politics are what runs the country, and just as back then, there were people trying to make a buck off of the situation. "Carpetbaggers", remember? So, it is today. Those who have the power misuse the power (do you think Bush will be poor when he leaves the office, or any of the others in Congress.)
History repeats itself, they say, so that we can learn. Sadly, we don't learn. Example, WW2. And here we are in a war costing us trillions of dollars.
Would it have been different today, with the South the strong force? There is no real way of knowing because circumstances have changed. We can't turn back the clock to know. Sadly, we haven't learned anything.

No, there would probably be two countries unless they somehow found a way to settle their differences. As for would things be better, you never know. America was a superpower for a long time after the Civil War. A lot of the problems we have now probably wouldn't exist, but there would probably be a bunch of new ones in its place. Things could be better, worse, or pretty much the same. Like I said, you never know.

Look at it this way. Lincoln was the first president to lead a war and declare Martial Law against his own people who were doing nothing more than the capitalists do today hiring undocumented workers and they turn a blind eye to it. Slavery was overdramatized too.
Most slaves who were owned and worked by plantations owners etc... were treated very well and many were considered family. Many were allowed to crop share much like profit sharing today. They formed their own communities, schools and churches. We had a black-white thing going on, which hasn't changed very much over the years when you really think about it.
All the plantations did was provide much needed products and renewable resources that the whole country needed.

No it wouldn't be better because there wouldn't be a United States there would be smaller countries or states and they would be under the control of some bigger country. The USA is where it is to-day because of the contributions made by people from both the North and South

Not by a long shot. For one, the confederacy would be a separate country. That's gonna create some changes.
