If the thermocouple is bad your furnace will not come on at all. They cost about $6. You can check to see if...the fan is running or not or if the air filter is clogged.
There is usually a limit switch that will turn off the gas if the fan doesn't come on. After it cools down the gas will come on again. The thermostat could be bad? That will cost you around $35 to $50 or more depending on the kind of thermostat you need. Hope that helps.

Is this a newer furnace? If it is , it does not have a thermocouple, even if it is an older furnace with a thermocouple this would have nothing to do with it kicking out in a minute. A thermocouple is a device used by the gas valve to generate a very small amount of voltage to keep the pilot lit. If the thermocouple wears out it does not generate enough voltage to keep the pilot lit and shuts down the whole gas valve. At this point the furnace will not lite or do anything. I need to know approx how old your furnace is to help you more.
