Hello there, I'm from Brazil, I would like to travel too Austrailia for a week.
There seems to be a rise of racism in western nations. Just recently a girl from south America was assaulted for visiting a friend in Europe.
And I remember reading about a racist mob attacking foreigners in Sydney a couple of years back.
So is it safe? I appologize but I'v only been to other latin American countries and the United States.

While travelling you won't face any racism but if you will live there you will, a lot.

Australia is safe.
All the news about racism is greatly exaggerated and they are isolated instances. "racist mob attacking foreigners in Sydney" ? I don't think that is quite true. May be you are talking about the Cronulla riot - which is NOT about tourists, but a bunch of drunks attacking people they didn't like.
In general, Australians don't care what race you are or where you are from. Just treat other people the way you want to be treated and you will be fine. Behave in a civil and courteous manners and we will show the same to you.
Racism exist everywhere in the world. But it is the minority here in Australia.

Australia is very safe, you just take the same precautions was you would anywhere else and have a great time, BUT,don't go getting drunk and wondering around at night on your own.

the sydney case happened a few years back and i believe authorities have taken measures to stop violence and racist issues. i was on vacation there in july and im going back for vacation in january, am from chile, and nothing bad has ever happened to me in oz. good luck!!!!

Don't worry about being set upon & attacked because you are Brazillian.....it's the drop bears that you'll have to watch out for!

It's much safer than most countries so please visit us as we don't see enough Brazilians here!
