Explain how they have all the meds you need to buy and how each pharmacy has the exact amount for you. To me it seems they plan for you to go to a specific pharmacy when you can go to all of them.

It's a guess. They look at their past number of prescription and extrapolate upon it. For some drugs, they have to normalize for seasons. You don't sell a lot cough medication in July, but in January, you sell more.
Pharmacies order their medications from wholesellers. The large pharmacy chains might be their own wholeseller.

good question! its always baffled me.
sometimes, you have to wait for medications to come in though if theyre out of stock or something.
