I saw this in a movie and a discussion developed between my friends and I .....

Is it Illegal to send this stuff from one U.S. State to another ....would that be a misdemeanor or a felony?
If a felony, would this involve the local police or the FBI or both ?

It is very illegal. It's called drug trafficking. And since it is being shipped via postal, it would be a federal offense, and a felony regardless if it is caught locally or federally. If a local department finds it, you can be charged locally, and the feds would also charge you. I know it sounds like double jeopardy, but the feds have different types of offenses to charge under, ie: local would charge for a murder, and feds could charge under RICO, so you could actually be hit twice. i know murder and drug trafficking are different, I just used it for an example.

Of course it is illegal. Drug charges are a federal offence, which would make it a felony. A misdemeanor would be getting caught with a gram. Any police can be involved whether it is a federal crime or not. The FBI wouldn't be involved for drugs in most cases unless it involved murder or kidnapping. If it was a large amount, it would more than likely involve the ATF.

If you use the US postal service for any illegal activity it would be considered a federal crime and the FBI would get involved. That is why if anyone tries to scam someone online they never use the Post Office to send things.

Anything involving the postal service automatically becomes a federal case. This would definitely fall within the jurisdiction of the DEA, FBI, and the local police departments of both origin & destination.

It's illegal to possess Cannabis. It's already a federal offense. If you put it in the mail, the charges start to compound. Serious felonies.

uhhhhhhhh...its illegal to possess it so its illegal to mail it. sending thru the mail would be a federal offense. you cant even open someones mail cuz its a federal offense cuz it goes thru the united states postal service. so, mailing cannibis would NOT be a misdemeanor. i dont know how much time you'd get tho. if you are thinking of trying this make sure you have a friend come on here and let us know how much time you DO get. cuz i'm curious. lol

first of all, it's illegal to HAVE cannabis, so i'm SURE it's illegal to send it to someone via the u.s. postal service. if caught, i'm sure the first offense would be just like any other first drug charge, unless you already have a record, then i'd worry. it's really not worth the risk, considering weed is so easy to get anywhere nowadays. believe it or not, i've never smoked weed before, but i damn sure know how frequent it is all places.

Anything that has to do with the U.S Postal service is a federal matter. In that case the F.B.I would be involved. It is a serious offense so if your thinking about it I would really think about what it could mean if you get caught.

Absolutely. Thus, anyone other those who are permitted by law, can not use the public mails for the transmission of "cannabis" through the postal system.

If this were done, it would become a felony because it involves the federal government. You would be tried. sentenced, and serve time in a federal prison. You would be prosecuted in a federal court. Not smart.
