Chris Carpenter will be coming back next year which will do wonders for that pitching staff. Edmonds is on his last legs, but a Andruw Jones or Aaron Rowand would allow him to move from CF and take offensive pressure from him. Rowand would be perfect since it would also take him away from the Phillies which would make that division a little weaker for them to overcome. The NL is usually a crap shoot and anything can happen because the NL teams are not that good when compared to the AL. All in all I say they have a 35% chance w/o signing a CF and a 70% chance if they do.

They have arguably the best manager/pitching coach combo in baseball and one of the best hitters the game has ever had. They will be in the hunt just as they have been for the last 7-8 years. Their chances revolve around the same thing that most other teams' chances revolve around: staying healthy, pitching, staying healthy, hitting, staying healthy, defense. A weak division doesn't hurt either! They need a #2, #3 type starter, Freddy Garcia?, to fill out their rotation. They will have decent pitching if Mulder is healthy, Wainwright and Looper can improve, and Pineiro pitches like he did the last 2 months. They could use a big bat off the bench and a shortstop, Miguel Tejada?, if Eck leaves. A good backup at third base would be a good idea too.

The Birds on the Bat have a GREAT chance to make the post-Season in 08.In Fact I expect nothing less, with TLR in charge he will have the Birds playing some very good Baseball. Now if the injury bug stays in check I expect the Cardinals to Win,YES WIN the Central.Look for the MV3 to have career years again, then everything else will just fall into place.Mulder,Carpenter will be back and give the pitching a Huge lift. The young guys like Duncan and others to have big offeseive years. So I say the Central will return to Normal with the Cards on top in 08

Since the Cards play in the NL Central, there is always that chance of making the playoffs. Having said that however, the Cubs, Brewers and even the Astros have already improved themselves for next year. The Cardinals really need to make some good deals before spring. Of course they need pitching and with the very few prospects they have in the minors, they might have to take a gamble on one of the free agent pitchers available this year. Out of a thin class, they could gamble that one of the following can turn their career around: Carlos Silva, John Thomson, Brett Tomko, Randy Wolf or Eric Milton. There are also several pitchers from Japan available. Good Luck!

If they can stay away from major injuries and players killing themselves, they should be able to rebound and be dominating again in the National League. Their main problem is depth at key positions, like starting pitching, so when the big guns go down, they can't plug someone in as quickly as some as the elite teams that did make the playoffs this season.

They have a slight chance, but it depends on what they do this offseason. The Cards could use some offensive help, and will need a new sparkplug and defensively strong shortstop if Eckstein signs with another team. They will need more starting pitching, especially if Chris Carpenter doesn't come back strong.

I would really like to say not very good, but I can't say that for sure, and I have been outstmarted by teams, whether or nto they know it, which I doubt they do. But I just say they have as good a chance as any team. Will they make the playoffs, that I can't say for sure, they have to win thier game, and I know that ehey have had good teams most of this decade, but they stunk this past season.

They have plenty of tools to make playoffs. They need starting pitcher. I love the Ankiel story by the way. Also, you spelled everything correctly!
