Because they are young and insecure.
Most of us were the same at that age but we didn't have an internet where we could display the images and ask for advise as to how to improve ourselves.

hey, I`m a hippiechick and I remember a time that vanity was considered a sin...today it`s all about how one looks and not about what sort of person u r...nowadays it doesn`t matter...u can be a biatch..but if u look good...your a cool biatch...sooo sad!

because ppl want a self image boost. its nice to have someone you dont know tell you that they think you look good. and they dont want to get their feelings hurt if they are not good looking so the fake it. idky because then its not real but i guess it helps them.

Americans', more than any other nation, tend to be extremely conscious of their cosmetic appearance....Hence, there is probably more cosmetic surgery here, than in most countries...I fear our affluence has lead us to vanity.....

low self-esteem of some people need to be told that they are beautiful even though they know it, they want everyone else to know it too. it's an ego thing.
