Was it the top of his head or was she trying to get out of the limo ?

I know that this is horrible but, at first, Jackie Kennedy was actually reaching for the top of John's head, a piece of his skull that the second shot had blown off. To reach the Secret Service Agent was an afterthought. For her part, Jackie Kennedy later had no recollection of ever doing so.

I read the whole thing days ago. To be honest I think it was cute, she is still and will always be a rare woman of grace and poise. MLK had one affair, also the article mentioned her own man was cheating too, but at the time she didn't know. That would explain why he stuck up for MLK when she said that lol. But both were great men and the women who stood by them...that will never change.

Jackie was actually reaching for a piece of JFK's skull... She is covered with blood and parts of JFK's brain matter...
Transcripts of her deposition state that she screamed...
" oh My God...they've shot him, they shot him...they're gonna kill us all... "

i have read and seen documentaries stating that she was indeed trying to get pieces of JFK's head/brain. I don't think she was thinking perfectly straight at the time.

the limo sped up immediately afterward, and the Secret Service man walking behind was running to catch up, and I think she was reaching to help him climb up on to the trunk.
This second link is from the Warren Commission testimony of a Secret Service Agent. He states that he had reached the rear step of the car, then slipped off when thecar sped up, and seen Mrs. Kennedy reaching for something on the back, then that she seemed to move to try and help him get back on to the car, he put her back in her seat and then got back on by himself.

I thought there might had been a way to get the top up on the presidential motorcade since it was fashioned as a convertible.
