peoplefinders is good because it gives you all the states that a person lived in. Then you can go to the state site and get more info such as any convictions ect.

Start with contacting the Clerk of the Court and Clerk of the District Court where your father lives. The computers in each office can pull up the information about court cases against your father. There will be a fee if they people in the office do the work for you; but if you have a free afternoon during the week and live nearby, you can go to the courthouse and look it up yourself.
If there have been any cases filed, you can ask to see them. It might take some time for the clerk's office to locate the case if it is in storage. For a small fee, you can get copies of the court cases sent to you.
Just remember a few things:
1. A case filed does not mean he is guilty of anything-it could be he was wrongfully charged.
2. Double check to make sure it is him- there are millions of people named John Smith, Michael Jackson, or Ted Williams out there.
3. Not every case will be displayed. Juvenile court cases, military court cases and Federal cases will not be listed in Clerk of the Court or Clerk of the District (Superior) Court. You will have to ask how to get a peak at those records.
4. It is important to ask if the computer search is statewide or just for that county. If the crime took place in a neighboring county, you might miss it.
Next contact the Clerk of the District (Superior) Court in counties you know your father has lived in. They will do the background check for you as soon as your check clears; but make it easy for them and provide as much information as possible (father's date of birth, social security number, any known aliases, etc).

This can be easy or very hard. Do you have your Dad in your life? Start asking questions from family members. If not then go to your local court website that tells all pertinent information.

most sites you have to pay for, but if you happens to be from Wisconsin.... http://wcca.wicourts.gov/index.xsl HAHA
sometimes you find some interesting things.
Wisconsin is one state that allows the public to see this type of information, some other states do as well, there may be a link on there to get to the state that you are from, im not sure.
