This type of music reaches a deeper level than the typical crap that passes it self off as "music" - mainly because it HAS lyrics (and INTELLIGENT ones at that)...
Also, the slower rhythm allows you to slow down and relax - rather than get you pumped up and full of energy (and crashing later) - which ALSO allows you to think!
As for "what it means" - it doesn't have to mean anything. It could mean that you are seeking a way to unleash your emotional potential, or become more in touch with your "human" side ;););)

It could mean a variety of things, some straightforward, some complex. It could mean that you are introspective and take life very seriously. It could mean that you actually find strength and creativity in sad music. Many highly creative and productive artists are "brooders." They tap into the depths of their souls for inspiration. It could mean that you just like it, nothing more, nothing less.
It is impossible to tell from your question what you consider "sad and depressing music" to be. Music written in a minor key is often called sad music; yet many of the world's most sublime and uplifting symphonies and choral works are written in a minor key.
If you are concerned that you may be experiencing clinical depression, I would urge you to get an evaluation from a competent physician or psychiatrist. Depression affects millions of people (I suffer from it), and it is easily treated. But listening to sad music alone would not be a reliable indicator that the illness is present.
If you are otherwise feeling OK, I would not worry too much about the fact that you enjoy listening to sad and depressing music. You are in the company of many a great artist. Enjoy the experience!
Best to you!

Sometimes we don't realize how much emotion we have inside, it may be buried deep within until we listen to a sad song, see a sad movie, etc. We need to get the emotions out in the open, even if to just cry a few tears in private and then we can deal with that and move on. You may have something in the back of your mind that you aren't aware of. It's like, when you crave a certain food your body needs that "chemical" so to speak. Same with a particular feeling.

Maybe you are just a thoughtful person. Sad music tends to slow people down, to make them think and open their hearts as they're listening. I guess it's a form of escapism. That could just be the way you like to feel.

It probably means that you find some sort of comfort in the music. It (music) could be possibly expressing feelings that you are having or situations that you are trying to cope with. You identify with the lyrics.

Listen to Cold by Jorge Mendez. It's an amazing piece of music. It's so sad and frail sounding but then just as it reaches the climax you hear hope... Even though it's just a small spark that sends your heart into an uncontrollable frenzy of emotion and rhythmic beating and is the sweet downfall of the song. It's so clear... It's so beautiful yet so hopeful and filled with such anguish. Filled with such passion is it. I've never found a song so alluring.
If you like depressing music then this is definitely a song for you. No lyrics though.
I wouldn't worry about listening to depressing music. It's a way for humans to cope, also reassures you you're still functionable emotionally. I find depressing music to be very enlightening and marvelous. It's filled all the emotions that are so very hard to show. Words cannot describe what music does to us. Some live music..
For some people, like me, we breathe the sweet notes that tug at the strings of our hearts. I'm a music lover.

It means you have way too much time if you're actually analyzing your music that much and not just enjoying it!
