when it's really not even possible to say those words in the persian language?

one of the things most people don't know about that speech was that it was about the palestinians and israelis coming together in a democratic and peaceful manner.

As the Imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map," said Ahmadinejad, referring to Iran's revolutionary leader Ayat Allah Khomeini.

His comments were the first time in years that such a high-ranking Iranian official has called for Israel's eradication, even though such slogans are still regularly used at government rallies.

On October 26, 2005 Ahmadinejad gave a speech at a conference in Tehran entitled "World Without Zionism". According to widely published translations, he agreed with a statement he attributed to Ayatollah Khomeini that the "occupying regime" had to be removed, and referred to it as a "disgraceful stain [on] the Islamic world", that needed to be "wiped from the map."[11]

Ahmadinejad's comments were condemned by major Western governments, the European Union, Russia, the United Nations Security Council and UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.[128] Egyptian, Turkish and Palestinian leaders also expressed displeasure over Ahmadinejad's remark.[129] Canada's then Prime Minister Paul Martin said, “this threat to Israel's existence, this call for genocide coupled with Iran's obvious nuclear ambitions is a matter that the world cannot ignore.”[130]

The translation of his statement has been disputed. Iran's foreign minister stated that Ahmadinejad had been "misunderstood": "He is talking about the regime. We do not recognise legally this regime."[131] Some experts state that the phrase in question (بايد از صفحه روزگار محو شود) is more accurately translated as "eliminated" or "wiped off" or "wiped away" from "the page of time" or "the pages of history", rather than "wiped off the map".[132] Reviewing the controversy over the translation, New York Times deputy foreign editor Ethan Bronner observed that "all official translations" of the comments, including the foreign ministry and president's office, "refer to wiping Israel away".[133]

And isn't it sad when people try linguistic gymnastics to "explain away" what he said as "He was just asking for a regime change like the fall of the Soviet Union" when they totally ignore his numerous other statements on the subject that make it clear what his views actually ARE. Regardless, even if you try to accept the "charitable interpretation" that that's what he meant, well, how exactly would Ahmadinejad effect a "regime change" in a democratic country except through warfare?

His exact quote was - " The Imam said that this regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time . " Many in the Arab world believe he was referring to Zionism .

Of course since most Americans listen to propaganda { one or all the alphabet networks } they believed the nonsense .

Thanks for posting that. Zionism is going to kill many many Jews with it's twisted foreign policy.

Little known fact. Modern day terrorism as we know it was invented and perfected by Zionists Jewish extremists. Crimes against Muslims are too numerous to list but do a Google search. They have no trouble killing their own (Jews) or their allies (Brits, Americans ect).

Yeah, if you say so. I find it incredibly pathetic that an American (Oh, how I hope you are not!) would actually be defending this antisemitic lying Persian. He said, maybe not in those exact Persian words but the meaning was exactly the same. Anyone who defends this guy, wants to do the same thing to Israel. I guess he didn't say that the Holocaust didn't happen, either, right? Pahleeze!
