Stress worsens cramps, so relax. Try meditation. Just sit in peace and quiet and breathe deeply. Chamomile tea is very soothing, and regularly taking multi-vitamins is helpful too. As far as exercise, do as much as you can. If you run or jog, at first it'll feel worse, but quickly it really goes away.

About the only thing I know of is to take a pain releiver. Try soaking in the bathtub or use a heating pad. Walking sometimes helps too, but if they are completely unbearable then you need to see a doctor- birth control may help.

Lie down with a hot water bottle or hot compress, which I prefer. You need 1 freezer-size Ziploc bag as well as 2 dishtowels. Get one wet, not soaking, and fold it up inside the ziploc bag, DO NOT SEAL. Place in the microwave for a minute or so and then take it out and seal it up. Fold it into the second towel and place it over the area of discomfort.

I think walking just works best as for excercising. If I had to do something really important and cramps got in the way, I would take a muscle relaxer, But you dont want use medications.I always eat what I crave on my period and it helps!

For me I'll just swing my arms towards my back,
My as* will be stationary, my hips moving towards the back kinda sort of thing.
Stretch out my legs, bend backwards like you are doing the limbo.
And tada~! No pain anymore!
Try avoiding cold stuff, causes more pain. Tried and tested.

Get on birth control, it'll lighten your cycle, and reduce cramping.

take a short walk, stay hydrated and i am in agreement about the heating pads.... also, i have seriously found that chocolate helps!! oh, and avoid carbonated beverages, gum and salty foods. all three will make you feel more bloated/crampy.
