Y'all I'm not teasing ... ok maybe a little ... LOL

Grandma and Grandpa live with me to help out with the kids - God Bless Them!

And Yes, I totally agree with praying for those that do not have even the basic necessities. Thank you for bringing that up and bringing us all to a place of humility and thankfulness. Our donations are en route! Praise God!

I'm also thankful for all the New Years' resolution diet and exercise regimes lined up after the holidays. LOL ;^D Did you know I have a seasonal holiday wardrobe especially for this time of year?! (2 sizes larger! Its true!!!)

Well, it's just going to be my husband and I, so I'm serving:
Cornish game hens, stuffed with onions and celery, roasted with butter, garlic, salt, and pepper
REAL mashed potatoes with chicken gravy
Stuffing (what's Thanksgiving without stuffing?)
Whole black olives
Pickles
Green beans with spaetzle in Bavarian cream sauce
Sweet potatoes with brown sugar and marshmallows
Flaky butter biscuits

With a nice German riesling (year 2006) from the Nahe valley, and apple pie for dessert.

We'll be eating leftovers for a week, just like we did last year.

I'm going to start cooking around 3 or so. I already know it's going to take awhile.

Or maybe I should just come to your house, lol. Happy Thanksgiving!

I have a Thanksgiving verse to wish you a blessed holiday:

Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto him for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye grieved; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

The turkey is marinating... The sweet potato pies are baked... the cornbread is baked and onions and celery are sauted in preparation for the dressing... I've shelled a pound of pecans for the jello salad and the fruit salad... The peas are ready... the salad is tossed... the squash is cooked in preparation of the squash cassarole... the millionare pie is in the fridge... the giblets and eggs are boiled in preparation for the giblet gravy...

I still have a lot to get done! My sisters are driving in from Dallas (350 miles) in freezing temps and possible sleet...

It's hard work, but I am deeply grateful that we have this amazing bounty.

We need to pray for the folks in the Southeast without water. We need to donate to the Red Cross to make sure they get help with water and other necessities. We need to bring food to those who have none prepared...

Peace.

We are having spaghetti with home-made Spaghetti Sauce (with tons of garlic).

Our entire family decided to take a break from Thanksgiving this year. We're burned out - it's been a rough year and we see everyone all the time .

I think we are going to clean the garage for Thanksgiving. I will probably make brownies or a sheet cake.

;)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Oh my gosh, your meal sounds ah-mazing!!
We're having a total traditional thanksgiving meal.
Turkey, mashed potatoes and home-made gravy, sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, dinner rolls, dutch apple pie, and a chocolate chip cheesecake.
We were going to do sweet glazed ham, but I don't like ham so we decided not to. But your meal sounds great, have a great thanksgiving!!
