floor area a suitable Cylinder * S= 2B + Ch* the place B is the area of the backside, C is the circumference of the backside, and h is the top.* after putting C as 2pir and B as pi(sq. of r) you will get quadratic equation in r *r = radius of base

r = radius of base
h = height
S.A. = 2 (π r ²) + (2 π r) h
12 π = 8 π + 4 π h
12 = 8 + 4 h
h = 1 ft
