I have to say I have felt just the same way, but spelling is best way to communication your idea and feeling. Spelling is so important without knowing it, how would you be able to find a job? Computers are only as good as the person using the tool. Tools: Spelling is the best tool in a person's life that can be utilized for success. Say what if someone said to you, "I believe you have pneumonioultramicroscopicsilicovocaniokoniosis". Now. how would you know what you have? I sure would hate to know that if I couldn't read or spell that . If I had this? God Bless and keep spelling, learn, learn, learn. Now that's an answer.

We have many homographs (words that sound alike but are spelled differently such as right and write or not or knot) in the English language. One could use the incorrect homograph in a sentence but the spell check wouldn't catch it because the word would technically be spelled correctly.
The sentence "He needs to right his mother or he's knot going to inherit any of her money" would pass by the spell checker without any misspellings noted.

spelling is not a waste of time. spell check on the computer is GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out). U must have noticed how spell check screws up.
Besides, trusting everything to spell check is like out-sourcing a part of your job to a machine.

Yes! Because if there was no spell checking, pretty soon all words would become unrecognizable as they would pass from person to person and language would loose any meaning and soon would end.
Grunt!

First off, spelling checkers aren't perfect.
Second off, as you learn the rules of spelling, you learn more about how to actually use the language, origins, derivations, etc.
Thirdly, do you know how to add? Calculators exist, don't they?

You must be kidding, right?
If you wanted to say your mom was fantastic
and you wrote:
"My mom is grate"
Spell check would tell you that the above sentence is correct.
( you do realize that it's not, don't you???)
