Washington Post--
"A bipartisan investigation by the Senate intelligence committee subsequently established that all of these claims were false -- and that Mr. Wilson was recommended for the Niger trip by Ms. Plame, his wife. When this fact, along with Ms. Plame's name, was disclosed in a column by Robert D. Novak, Mr. Wilson advanced yet another sensational charge: that his wife was a covert CIA operative and that senior White House officials had orchestrated the leak of her name to destroy her career and thus punish Mr. Wilson.
The partisan furor over this allegation led to the appointment of special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald. Yet after two years of investigation, Mr. Fitzgerald charged no one with a crime for leaking Ms. Plame's name."

The panel found that Wilson's report, rather than debunking intelligence about purported uranium sales to Iraq, as he has said, bolstered the case for most intelligence analysts. And contrary to Wilson's assertions and even the government's previous statements, the CIA did not tell the White House it had qualms about the reliability of the Africa intelligence that made its way into 16 fateful words in President Bush's January 2003 State of the Union address.
The report said that whether Iraq sought to buy lightly enriched "yellowcake" uranium from Niger is one of the few bits of prewar intelligence that remains an open question. Much of the rest of the intelligence suggesting a buildup of weapons of mass destruction was unfounded, the report said.
The report turns a harsh spotlight on what Wilson has said about his role in gathering prewar intelligence, most pointedly by asserting that his wife, CIA employee Valerie Plame, recommended him.

Libs wake up! This is the Washington Post, a liberal paper, reporting this.
I'm always amazed at the ability of you libs to stick your heads in the sand and ignore any inconvenient facts. The subject doesn't matter. If it gets in the way your negative opinion of Bush it just gets ignored, doesn't it?
I supposed Bush could drop $100 bills out of a plane over Harlem, and you'd be complaining about the litter, huh?

Your premise is false. There was no attempt to buy yellowcake and George Tenet knew it, but didn't have the courage to speak truth to power. The president's own former press secretary now appears to be indicating that Plame was intentionally outed by five of the highest officials in the executive branch, including DUH-bya, Cheney, etc. Repeating lies big enough, often enough only works when those listening are too insecure and weak to take responsibility for their mistakes and learn from them. People are dying for those lies. They've died to the tune of perhaps hundreds of thousands. Just how vain, greedy and obsessed are the right in this nation?!

so the thing about the forged documents is an "open question"? and that Wilson's report "bolstered" these forged documents that U.S. intelligence agencies considered "highly dubious"? really that is astonishing. your source appears to be an op ed piece who wrote that? that seems extreme for even Charles Krauthammer.

Since you seem to want to inject hypothesis into this conversation ( as it is not an actual question) Why would you take as gospel anything that comes out of a newspaper? Liberals and conservaties alike tend to spin whatever they want people to hear and see. Give us a break!

The truth is not important. You know that if the Democrats say anything; regardless of how ridiculous it is, enough times then t becomes the truth.
