It's just a case of senior citizens thinking that they deserve something out of life. They feel that they shouldn't have to wait in line because they are older and should be respected like this. I probably wouldn't say something but I would be mad on the inside. If it was a middle aged person though, I would probably say something.

It depends more on my mood!
I have once told off an old lady, who deliberately dragged her trolley over my foot and pushed me aside, nearly knocking me over!
I glared at her to start with, and then said to my friend, "I was brought up to respect my elders, but there are some exceptions to that rule!"
The old lady turned around and said it had been an accident, and my then three year old chirped up with, "My mummy says you should say sorry for accidents, then it makes it better!"
She was most put out when other people in the queue who'd had the same treatment from her shoving her way to the front, laughed and applauded!
I don't think she'll have done that since?!

I'm pretty sure I would have the same reaction no matter who it was that pushed me aside. I would ask them to explain their actions. I have found that when you point out to people what they have done they are good at fixing it.
Of course some people would try and start and argument but I just would not lose my temper, after all we are not talking about a life and death situation here. Why on earth would I get angry at someone who actions are either stupid or rude. Life is way to short for me to to worry about an idiot.

the old lady i would flick off when shes not looking. A middle aged woman i would step out of the way (hell hath no greater fury). A middle aged man however might be in for some problems >=D

Interesting question. I think I'd be quite upset, but if it was a little old lady, I'd just get over it. But, if it was someone close to my age, I'd likely do something about it, I don't really know what, because I wouldn't want to make a scene in the store. I'd certainly let the person know what I thought !

just because they are lil an old does not justify them pushing me out of the way in order to go through a checkout line. i would politely ask them what their problem was. and your right i would have a different reaction if it was say for instance a female my age. but regardless of age, sex, race, whatever it shoudlnt happen and i would say something.....

I don't give a BLEEP who it is, manners should be universal. And you bet your sweet a** I would say something whether that individual be Mildred from the nursing home down the street or George Haze or whoever. People need to learn to be courteous in public. Old ladies not exempt.

Regardless of who it is, I'm gonna say SOMETHING. I would be a little more gentle with an older lady, but I would definitely tell them I didn't appreciate what they just did. There is a way to be assertive in any situation.

I would say "excuse you" in a loud voice, stare at the person and then let go of my frustrating hoping the person was not aware of their social error. I would not react any different if it were a male or female for rude is rude, not based on gender.

I'd be even more mad at an old lady pushing in front of me. What is she in a hurry for?
