It is THANKSGIVING. It has a special and honorable meaning which is dissipated and lost in the colloquial term.

And, I am sure the turkeys who gave up their life for today, and the vegetarians don't particularly appreciate the term.

Would you call Christmas "gimme presents day?"

I dont like it either.

I noticed where I work that this week it was "other" nationalities that used the term Turkey Day tho. I thought maybe bc its NOT their Thanksgiving so they dont say it.

But the day is NOT about the Turkey!!! Maybe some ppl
dont understand TG or have limited mentality! lol

You wont hear me say that tho!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY!!!! Be Thankful for all that you have and have yet to receive!

I guess some kids just shorten it sometimes.

But it is disrespectful because it is a day of thanks.

Turkey isnt the whole holiday! I feel bad for the turkeys =(

When someone says that to me// they are just trying to have a fun time.
I bet when they are about to eat, and giving thanks // they realize it isn't appropriate to say "turkey day".//././ and appreciate the holiday for what it means.

To me,, I bet the homeless, less fortunate, or my daughter away at college.... won't care when people are being silly,, they know what it means!!!!!!!!!

Lighten up!
