Because when you're pregnant a large portion of your blood flow is directed to the uterus where your baby is growing, even in the early months. Though baby is small, there's a lot going on down there in your tummy.

That leaves your extremities "out in the cold" explaining why many pregnant women experience tingling, numbness and temperature extremes in their hands and feet.

There's just much less circulation in your extremities, meaning less warmth, too.

Your belly is what is called the core of your body. It usually maintaines the best heat. When you start to get cold your body to protect its' core will channel blood away from your extremities to maintian your body temperature. Seeing as you are pregnant and have more of a blood supply at your core..this will also help your belly stay warm.
