Hiya, when I cancelled my 02 contract early, I had to pay the remainder of the payments, think I had 5 months left, and had to pay around 100 quid or something like that

Pay the money for the euthanasia. Unless the circumstances are bad. My first horse got sick and by the time the vet was able to figure out what was wrong (EPM - was not well heard of yet around here) He was so bad off, the vet gave me a choice, the euthanasia or he could do the well placed bullet. I decided on the bullet cuz the horse was down and suffering too badly to wait for the vet to run back into town (45min wait). THAT WAS HORRIBLE!! The well placed bullet didn't work and he had to try again. That poor animal. Almost 10 yrs later & I can still hear the shots. Unfortuneatly, you gotta do what you gotta do. I hope when the time comes, the choices are better. If I had to do it all over, I'd prefer the euthanasia, but the bullet really was the kindest answer, too bad it went wrong. For myself, I was lucky and didn't have a renderer take him away, my friend, were I boarded him had a designated animal cemetary and he was laid to rest. That experience makes me plan ahead for all my animals. As unpleasant as it is, it is nice to know you are preparing for it.

Well about 12 years ago when o2 used to be called BT Cellnet. my husband had a mobile phone contract with them, we only really got the phone as I was pregnant at the time, and needed to be able to contact my husband should I go into labour or something, anyway after i had the baby, we were a bit short of money, so decided to cut back on some of our expences, I remember contacting BT Cellnet (now o2) and explaining that due to unsuspecting circumstances that wewould no longer be able to keep up paying for the mobile, i think I "laid it on" a bit, but in all fairness, it was the truth, and they did let us off, I think we had about 4 or 5 months left on the contract.

So my advice to you would be to say, you can't afford it anymore, and see how it goes. good luck.

Depends, the reason they use contracts is to claw back the cost of the phone/free gifts you got when you took it out.
if you try to cancel it after a couple of months they would loose £100's of pounds. they usually let you out of a contract for the price of the phone (depending on phone you got)minus around £25 for every month you have had the phone.
If you got a decent phone, sell it on eBay and use the money to pay the rest of contract off.
other way is sell the phone and use the money to allow you to keep making payments, then put the Sim in a cheap phone so you can still use the free Min's/texts each month.

hope this helps

if you have signed the contract the only sure fire way of getting out of it is to pay off the outstanding months balance. If you signed recently, then you may have a 30 day cooling off period- You would have to check your contract for that.

However if coverage is sketchy in your area you could argue that they have mis sold you, as it doesn't work for you. You'll probably have to argue your case quite convincingly though.

With increased competition though you could try switching provider for example if you could convince T Mobile or Orange that you really want to move to them, but you are locked into O2, with some persuasion you may be able to get them to buy you out of O2 in return for going onto their contract- I had friend mange this with Vodafone, but he had to really fight for them to do this- he spent nearly 4 hours in the store, and he has the gift of the gab- the kind of guy who can sell ice to eskimos if you know what I mean.

You may also be able to pass the contract on to someone else if they want it.

Unfortunately mobile phone contracts are so easy to get into and very hard to get out of- best of luck with it though.

well i haven't dealt with o2 but i have just had to cancel my vodafone contract as it was taking the mick, firstly ring o2 and tell them you wish to cancel the contract and ask them who you have to deal with and ask for the address to write to then write a letter with all the reasons as to why you wish to cancel your contract i.e you had a limit and they took the limit off so you spent over or if you have problems with paying it and then send it to o2 make sure that with every phone call you make you ask them their full name and what their staff number is so that if they say something then you can refer back to them saying it and also photocopy everything you write to them for reference as well dont let them tell you you cant as you can ok good luck mate

Just tell them you want to cancel the contract.

They will be happy to do so. You'll have to pay a penalty for early cancellation, but you'll be done with them.

Do you understand the word 'contract'...do you remember signing a piece of paper in the early days?
Unless o2 have not delivered what was printed on that paper that you signed...you will probably still be tied.
