love can be a little nauseating, but it isn't usually contagious.

It is interesting that you referred to "love" as an illness. What makes love an illness? Often, illness interfere with a persons functioning, often in a negative manner. Love, based on its concept developed by popular culture and media, is designed to make you feel great. That is, if love works out.

However, love can be contagious. There have been studies done on reciprocity. It has been shown, by social psychologists, that we tend to be attracted to those who are attracted to us. So to answer you question, based on the studies which have been performed, an example being in "The Social Animal", love is contagious.

A person can be lovesick, but it isn't an illness, medically speaking. Because love can make a person whole. God demonstrates His own love towards us by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for us while we were yet sinners. Today, I abide in love, because He first loved me. So, yes, love is contagious, and it's a contagious healing, health and wholeness. :)

With all due respect to the previous respondent, love is obviously not contagious (would that it were!), or there'd be a hell of a lot less violence and hatred between and among people in this beleaguered world. Indeed, the intensity of the violence and hatred seems greatest when God's name is invoked in the conflict.

If this is His/Her manifestation of love, S/He needs to go back to the drawing board and try again!

As love is not carried by a bacterium, a virus, a paramecium, etc., it cannot be an illness (the same applies to alcoholism, tobacco, drugs, etc.).
But, hey, I have heard that it does make people sick (emotionally?)

You're in love...and you want to infect others. Sadly, it isnt infectious in a way that will make others love others. But it could be infectious in a way that will enlighten someone.
