i have this hole in my lower back door which is somewhat mysterious.i can't figure out what is supposed to fit there.i don't think it's for a knob because the hole is too small.and it's not for a key cause it's bigger than that. should i ask a handyman to plug it up?

Dear Sister Stormy...yes I think you should call a man in for this job, it could be that the hole needs some caulk, you don't want to leave the hole unattended! good luck with getting the right man to caulk that hole.....xo

Sorry I can't tell you. Is it round? Does it look like someone was trying to gain entrance to your place? Is it on the hinge side or the other side of the door. I really need more information. Good luck.

oh i have a hole like that in my back door too,but someone made it bigger when they tried to stuff a ball in it.kids!

Maybe it was for a string (rope) to pull it shut.
