Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor with 144MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory for graphics??
I know nothing about this!!! I'm great at working any kind of computer software but when it comes to the guts and the parts of it I have no idea whats happening!

Everything depends on what you want to do with it. I currently have 80 GB of space on my laptop's harddrive, if you only have music, then it is probably enough. But if you start saving alot of videos on the harddrive, that's where it gets trickier. As for the processor, a 2.0 GHz, Core 2 Duo is very fast, you'll find to appreciate it very much while doing several things at once. The graphics processors... (graphics card) is more than enough if you're only going to use that for things, like word processing, browsing and other simple tasks. You'll only want something better than that if you want to run heavy software like 3D editing or gaming (with respectable performance). Yes, the 24x combodrive includes a cd-burner and 1GB of memory is enough.

When telling you that the 1GB of memory and the graphics processor where enough, I assumed you were using Xp. If you want to get windows Vista than I'd make it 2GB of ram.

And for the screen size it's a little small but you'll undoutebly get accustomed to it and will be thankfull as it's probably much less heavy than the larger 17 inch screens.

Generally, 'combination' optical drives generally are a CD writer that can read (but not write) DVD media.

The 1GB of memory is like a to-do list loading tasks from the hard disk. The more memory you have, the more tasks you can run at once. If you run too many tasks at once, "the notepad or to-do list" becomes cluttered and slows your system down.
If you plan on running any flavour of Windows Vista, install another gigabyte of RAM so the computer has two gigabytes to play with.

As for the "a lot of music" comment, 80GB would be reasonable for a decent size music collection (counting in the operating system and a few applications, but a bigger hard disk (very cheap when considering the "cents per megabyte" ratio) wouldn't go astray.

Thirteen point three inches is kind of small for a screen today. Have a look around for a 17 inch LCD screen and try to avoid CRT monitors, as they don't do your eyes much good in comparison to LCD.

a combo drive is a drive that can burn multiple disk formats which usually includes cd's, dvd's, and now DL dvd's. So yes a cd burner is included.

As far as the specs you posted for the computer. If you have a lot of music as you say 80gb is kind of on the low side. because you will have other files reducing the free space down from that.

80gb - 4gb for windows vista and trial software.
76gb - 6gb for you programs/games
70gb - 10gb free space needed by windows
60gb - 1-10gb for pictures (depending on your camera.)
59-50gb - 2gb of Video's

so now you left with about 40-45 gb for music. That is still quite a bit of music, but if you have high quality versions from your CD's it can add up quickly.

hard drive capacity is getting cheaper and cheaper by the day. So a 160 gig drive is at a reasonable price of about $100. Most mid-level desktops now come with 250gb hard drives.

If its a laptop then higher capacity is going to cost more.

1.Yup, CD burner is included.
2.1Gb RAM is great for XP but 2Gb is best for Vista.
3. Processor is powerful.
4. 80Gb is fine for MP3. Expansion option can just be an external HDD.
5. Integrated X3100 is great even for light gaming.
6. 13.3" screen is great if mobility is top consideration. Otherwise, get a larger screen.

13.3 is tiny. no smaller than 15". your hard drive should be at least twice that size. your video card should have at least 256MB. your ram should be at least 1GB. processor should be no less than 2.4GHz if dual core.
