You can add more females, but you will need at least 3 and not just 2, because they need to establish the so called pekkingorder
If you keep only 2 in there, one will dominate the other

also stay away from any fin nipping fish like tiger barbs

Do you mean Siamese Fighting Fish, or bettas? If this is what you are talking about, then other females will usually be fine with them. You can also get snails, corys, neons, guppies, platy, swordtails, and mollies(brackish!). They will also be compatible with plecos, danio, cardinal tetras, and glowlights.

Pretty much anything. I have 3 female bettas in my tank along with all kinds of tetras, mollies, swordtails, danios... It also depends on your tank size. But they are pretty docile so you have a lot of freedom when choosing other fish.

any regular tropical fish will be fine depending on the size of your tank. fish need 1 gallon per inch of size to really be happy. if your fish is in a very small tank, i'd say tetras. remember not tohave too much current in your tank.
