The Santa Claus that we all picture today started in 1931 when Cocacola commissioned Haddon Sundblom, an artist to depict Santa Claus promoting Cocacola...the public absolutely loved this rendition of Santa Claus, and for the first time, Santa actually became Human! Sundblom originally used a model, named Lou Prentice,a retired Salesman, for these ads, but after Prentice died, could not find another suitable model...a freind of Sundblom suggested he use his (Sundblom's) own face, and so he took a hard look at himself, and for the last two and a half generations, American 's and millions of people all over the world regard Sundblom's Santa Claus as the real Santa that depicts the true spirit of Christmas! For more information about Santa Claus, find and read the book by E. Willis Jones , called "The Santa Claus Book" published by Walker and Company, New York...my copy is from 1976...

Sorry, Rob, you are wrong, the American version of Santa Claus came about by the illustrator of the poem The Night Before Christmas, by Clement Moore, in 1822, way before Coca Cola. Santa sells Coke because the Coca Cola people know that it is good advertising and makes money. That is all about the bottom line.

Its the other way around. Santa Claus was originally made up by Coca Cola. His clothes are red and white same as the coke bottles and cans. Anyway coke products are the soft drink, and santa products are toys that look like santa and other things like that.
