So congress, and the president both have approval ratings below 30% according to polls. Virtually everybody I know would be fired instantly if they had similar numbers. Personally, if even 5% of my customers dis-approved of my performance, my job would be in jeopardy. I was just wondering the following:
1. Are you satisfied with your state reps/sens?
2. Do you think we should be able to "fire" them should their ratings fall below 50%?
Please do not respond with the typical liberal/conservative bashing the conservative/liberal business. The questions are simple and should be kept that way. Thanks.

I am all ears if you have a solution. But the fact is, regardless of who is in office, people just seem to dislike them. Democrat, Republican, Independent, doesn't seem to matter. As long as the politicians are not looking out for the best interest of the American people, it will always be that way. Since they make the rules, adjust the Constitution, and the laws, what can the American people do, short of a Revolution?

No! It is sad to say but Americans do not know how government works. When times are bad, the people just get mad at government. When times are good people like their elected officials. We are at war, with American casualties every day, mortgage crisis, and the weak dollar. (was in Toronto two weeks ago and was offered 80 percent on the dollar). So, when America goes through tough times people dislike their elected officials. The do not know who to dislike, so they dislike all of them.

I am not happy with most of our elected officials
I actually have felt the way you feel now. In the Indian world the chief could be "fired" and replaced if he were a poor hunter or lost ONE battle. And they could do it overnight. Why should we have to pay the salaries of somebody below 50% approval?!

have no idea who state jerks are. they keep a very low profile.

there damn well needs to be a recall vote readily available and easy to initiate.

i equal rights man, hate democrats and republicans. gonna vote for ron paul and hope something better happens. frankly, i think without a NEW constitution, we are cruising up shxt creek.

You have the opportunity , called an election
Politicians would never make a decent decision if it were day by day

elections.
