Why do people need rewards?

2007-11-21 11:17:36 · update #1

I think people should do work to benifit society, rather than getting stuff for a job well done. I take pride in what I do, regardless of what I get from it. Maybe a simple "good job" is good enough. I don't need anything more.

commanderbuck383, when have I ever said I wanted to go to Cuba or North Korea?

Doing good will mean something. It will benifit society and make them proud of what they accomplished.

NO!

People need rewards because thats how life is! When you're teaching a child to obey, or to get them to do a good job in school or in their chores, what do you do? You provide incentive. You promise to give them a toy, or at the very least you congratulate them upon successful completion and tell them what a great job they did. You make them feel special because they did a good thing. If you never reward them, then they will never feel special and won't want to do good work because they think it means nothing. That's the whole basis of heaven. People feel good about doing good in this world because they believe that they will be rewarded by going to heaven. That's in any religion; Islam, Christianity, Judaism. People want to do good and for it to mean something. Do you understand?

Maybe you don't need more, but the rest of the world does. We apparantly are not as perfect as you. And besides, in today's society we are rewarded with money. If you don't wish to be rewarded with money and only with "good job", then you won't be able to benefit society.

Look at the rest of the answer's you've received. Most of the people on this forum are adults who have had years of experience in the working world, political world, and economic world. 13/14 seem to disagree with this "Utopia" idea. Don't you wonder why that is?

Hmm, interesting you haven't responded.

No. That's een tried--its called communism and invariably leads to repression, bloodbaths, and tyranny. Everyone shares whatever there is to share, yes (except for the Party members, who get most of what thee is) and every one is treated equally--they ae all slaves.

Why should people want rewards? Taht question betrays a profound contempt for humanity. The notion that a person "outht t o do things without reward" basically amounts to demanding that people who work not be paid for their effort. Again--that is called SLAVERY--and that tells you the sick, ugly, and immoral character of everyone who has the hatred for humanity that is shown by advocating such an evil idea.

Everyone sharing everything? No. Things for the most part, just aren't there. They have to be dug up, manufactured, purified, shipped, etc. This means people have put in their time and effort to bring us those things. Nobody should be entitled to the effort of others without giving them something in return.

Everyone treated equally? Yes.

People should be treated equally but not share everything. Some people want to work others don't. They should not ride on the backs of people that work hard.

I would love it, how could this not be good, i could go to work and come home at the end of the day and feel good knowing my children, grandchildren and everyone else will eat, have a home, lights, heat, air, a good auto, health care and on and on.
But the power that rule us have us bullshitted into believing every man for himself

JJ! Where you been, I have missed you. Hey, can you come over and clean my house for free please? I'm sure it will make you feel wonderful for having done such a good job. Plus, I did it last week and in an equal world this should be shared, don't you think? Thanks!

If there truly is a God, we all will, soon as we pass beyond this one.

Don't be surprised if some people are still complaining about everyone being provided for in the afterlife.
