Some racing games that I recommend are: Gran Turismo 3, Gran Turismo 4, Burnout 3 Takedown.

And some shooting games: Killzone and Black.

For ps2 I personal like game like Call of duty big red one and Gun is also a great one. But it you want a big time shooter try Urban Chaos: riot response. Driving games on the other hand I suck at so can't help you there. got any other questions just ask.
