I see this a lot in this forum when a woman has had an affair with a married man.

This is what happens in societies where women are controlled and villified to the nth degree.
Stoning, lashes, public executions is the far end of the spectrum of this kind of name calling. Do you see that?
This is how women are vilified (made the bad guy) in society.

Its how women are villified and controlled in society. In our society they get name called when they step out of line, in other societies its the extreme of the same spectrum - they are arrested, stoned, burned, disfigured etc.
Its how women who step out of line are viewed and treated that is the same. only the extreme reaction is the difference.

I acknowledge your point and I agree to an extent, because I have noticed a certain venom directed towards women who cheat that isn't quite the same as that directed to men who do likewise. To answer your question specifically, no, I do not call them names because I don't see that as helping the situation or furthering communication (dialogue). This does not mean I approve of the behavior, but when you insult people they generally stop listening...I know I do.

I don't see how this article and your senerio are the same. In the article you're talking about a society that is inflicting a physical punishment on a woman because SHE was a victim of a sexual assult / rape.

In YOUR senerio - you are talking about a free-willed woman who CHOOSES to engage in such activity with a married man.

How the heck is that the same thing ?!?!?

And name calling is a far, far cry from stoning or lashing a woman !!!

I also think it has to do with many woman see men as "weak" when it comes to sins of the flesh (not a correct assumption, but it gets made with regularity). These same women EXPECT their fellow women to expect this weekness in men, and thus be able to not fall prey to the same type of impulse.

Its almost an attitude of, "We have a higher standard for the educated, feminized, womanhood you are SUPPOSED to be a part of...."

Because this "sisterhood" trust is broken by a gal that sleeps with other lady's husbands - the niceties are forgone and the "I hate you B1TCH !!" claws come out.

The male of the species might eat their young (OK in the case of man - abandon their young), but the female will turn on themselves in a heartbeat !!!

Its a "You either stand in solidarity with us, or we will cast you out and destroy you" type of mentality regarding female's attitudes towards female cheaters.

I don't agree that its right - but it does seem that this is the norm far more than its an exception.

The Arabic culture has isolated women for centuries. They are behind the times. You can in no way justify this poor girls incident nor relate it to a woman in any other country dating a married man. This is a totally different topic.

She was with a friend and former student who happened to be male. She wasn't with a married man. Their laws and culture are very different from our own and they need to change. By their morals and legal system she broke the law just by being alone with another man. They are not allowed to be with a man in public unless they are married to him or if they are a family member. Ultimately, Woman are nothing more than objects to them. They are property plain and simple. Is it right, no certainly not, but it is their culture and only they can change it. And they do need to change it.

I find it completely offensive and can't quite comprehend the entire situation myself, but I also can't see how this story relates to how a woman is villified by having an affair with a married man. More married men have affairs than women. There are more women who are willing or more gullible to actually have an affair with a married man. There always have been and there always will be because women are looking to be swept up and away by some prince charming fairy tale that doesn't exist. In my eyes it takes two people. The man is just as much at fault as the woman having the affair with the married man. If he can't be honest enough with his own wife then what makes the person who is envolved with him think he is being honest with her?

it takes two to have an affair, too many women judge other women, they cannot see any fault with the man, because this might mean they are the problem, an affair is not the cause of a marriage breakdown, but possibly a symptom.
It is not only men in society that vilify women, we do it to ourselves.

Unimportant what you wish to call any of them. The marriage is crowded no matter how you look at it... and no, mistress is usually a lady who is set up in an apartment or place somewhere, and supported. Her availability is paid for by the guy. Women who cheat on their husbands, and husbands who cheat on their wives are called "betrayers".

Calling a woman who dates married men a "name" and a punishment so severe for a single female who hasn't done anything but be seen with a couple of males who then took her to be gang-raped aren't the same things. I don't understand the comparison.

no i don't and people shouldn't, if the man wasn't willing she wouldn't be with him. when another name calls it's either because they don't like that person or it makes them feel better about themselves. for whatever reason it's wrong. like the bible says you will be judged in the same manner, people should think about that. what does it prove, you know how to put people down. wow

nothing wrong with name calling or stoning to death ( depending on culture ) a women who dates a married man,
true the man is unfaithful
but lest you think a women need to own up to what she is ( depending on the derogatory terms used ), she has is coming
plain and simple
and she ides not like it
then she should not be dating a married man
