You should not put a flea collar on ANYTHING!!!! They do NOT work and are toxic. If the ferret has fleas, you can use Advantage.

You cannot put a flea collar on a ferret at any age.
Get rid of the fleas in the house, on other animals or on the ferret, but forget about the flea collar. They are toxic to the ferret and will get chewed on.

PS: The only thing a flea collar is good for is keeping one inside the bag of your vacuum cleaner to help in killing those that get sucked up.

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Use Advantage for Small Cats and Kittens and only a few drops. Do you have other pets in your home? You need to treat them as well as they're the ones that brought the fleas into your home.

When I moved into my new house I soon discovered my back yard was infested with fleas that came in on my dog. I treated him and my cats but since I caught the infestation before it got out of hand I didn't put anything on my ferrets. I treated my carpets, my yard and I stripped down their bedding and washed everything. I also went over each ferret a couple times each day flea comb only getting one or two off them occasionally. I figured it was best to spare them the chemicals if I could.

Thankfully the fleas soon disappeared and now that I'm keeping the dog on Frontline year long I shouldn't have the problem again.

NO. Flea collars in general are junk and shouldn't be put on any animal they have what I consider an entirely too high rate of allergic or toxic reactions in animals. Ferrets in particular are very sensitive to flea treatments, medications, vaccinations, etc and should never be given an over the counter medication of any kind.

Aside from the fact that flea collars shouldn't even be applied to cats and dogs, because they're useless and often toxic, never apply ANYTHING to a species it is not intended for. That is a sure way to get yourself some serious problems. If you have a ferret with fleas, please see a vet for the appropriate solution.

I use spot on flea treatment for all my ferrets, but at the same time you should treat your house and other animals, not just the ferrets.
