Broad spectrum - aiming at or causing a wide ranging effect. Narrow spectrum - aiming at or causing a more focused effect. For instance - a broad spectrum antibiotic is not specific to one illness - it will try to cure many things. A narrow spectrum antibiotic is targeted at one problem.

What category? In pharmacology, a narrow spectrum drug would be specific to a single pathogen, while a broad spectrum drug might knock out all bacteria.
Or is your subject optics? Or electromagnetic radiation?
A spectrum can be an array of wavelengths. Some arrays are more narrow than others.
