I never thought I would be the kind of person that I am today. Everything I used to love I now hate, and I am doing things I know i could get in a lot of trouble for- like drinking, smoking, doing drugs, shoplifting, etc. The only times I can have fun is when I am partying, but all the rest of the time, like when I am at home or in school I am deeply depressed. I don't want to fallow the path I am on because I know it won't lead to good things. But what should I do, because the path to "success"- going to school, getting a job, etc. - is so boring and depressing it makes me want to shoot myself. But those things are what life is all about, right?

Keep your head down and stick it out for the minimum you have to, then go to Jamaica and live a party life.

You need to be honest with yourself. Find out what is depressing you at home or school. If it is because school is boring perhaps you are not being challenged enough. A lot of highly intelligent people do porely in school for that reason alone. They are bored with the school work, they already know the school work and now feel it is a waste of time to continue with the same thing when they could be learning something new.
You didn't say why you hate all the things that you used to love. Again be honest with yourself. Only you know the answer to that. What changed to make you hate these things? Why did whatever it was change? Once you answer these questions you will know what happened and then you will be able to fix the problem.
You already realize that the path that you are on is not going to lead you anywhere. That is the first step in knowing that you have a problem. Now you need to take the next step and figure out what you can do to change that path. No one else can do it for you. We are all in control of our own destinies.
One more thing. Success. Is not about how much money you make, what kind of job you have, or car you drive. Success is being happy in your own skin. It is feeling good about what you are doing. It doesn't matter if you are a trashman if this is what makes you happy and you do it to the best of your ability then you are successful.
Good luck to you. Challenge yourself. You will be surprised at how far you will go.

Going to school isn't for everybody at the same time. How old are you? Maybe you just need a break, but someone in your life is making you feel guilty about that. If so, then you need to learn to be okay with yourself for being who and what you are. I think you might just be acting out because you know you don't like school and attaining your goals. Again, it's not for everybody. If someone is making you feel bad about what you're doing, then you're going to act out for sure. You need to stop this before it happens.

I'm all for partying, but with limits. I don't agree with your shoplifting because I think that hurts stores. If you get caught, it will hurt the people in your life because they don't want to see you go to jail. The same with drinking when you're out or doing drugs.

Just try to put a handle on things the best you can. To tell you stop doing everything at once would be shooting yourself in the foot. Just tackle one thing at a time. Whicho f these things that you mentioned do you think you could give up without going nuts?

i can really relate to you, although i haven't done all those things you have done. but high school or school in general is really stressful. then you come home and have to deal with problems at home =/. so everything just fills you until you cant take it anymore. But that's where we should talk to somebody a counselor (i know it sounds so stupid) but really its a great help, plus they motivate you to do better and well...its confidential!=]
but let me ask you something "how will you succeed if you shoot yourself?" you wont exist. don't think negative. think positive. I hope i helped, and i hope you feel better soon =]

You should seek counseling. I don't know how old you are but I"m going to assume you are a teenager?? In that case you can tell a school counselor and they can help you. It is also possible that you could need medication for depression. Can you tt your parents and tell them you need to see a doc to determine if you have depression? You really need support from someone. Don't deal with this alone.

Try Jesus. Note that i did not say religion. screw religion! He is one out-cry (prayer) away. He said: "seek and you SHALL find." Try Him and see if He is a liar. The school system lies, our friends and peers do, the news does every evening. preachers do when it comes to $$$$$$$$$$$$. politicians do when they move their lips. But God is not a man that He should have any reason to lie.......Try Him.... But once you have then you will say it like Yodo "there is not try" because you will be on different path. Is that not what you want??????????
