I have to write a story and and it is about a bunch of pennies welded together to grant wishes and i figured it would be cool if i could actually make the talisman and bring it as part of the paper. Anyone know how i could make a fire hot enough and safe enough? by the way, i have no acces to a blowtorch.

At this time it is against the law to melt cents and nickels. This is not always the case, but the coins are worth more for the metal. Now cents made after 1982 only have a copper coating so it would come off if heated to high. I don't think the secret service will visit you if you melt some cents together. It would Be tricky due to copper melts at a low temperature These days there are some glues out there that are hard to see and can be used. I saw a coin with an S mint mark on it that looked okay to me, I could not see anything around the S, however when dipped in Acetone the S fell off ,for it ate the glue holding the S to the coin. Check out some of the new space age glues. It is how a talisman is consecrated that counts and the time it is made.

As funny as this sounds, doing that is a federal offense (destroying money)
