Hi Mate,
To be honist .. save ya money till you can afford a laptop with a duel core chip like intels duo core duo or an AMD x2 equevelnt...
With todays machines being supplyed with Windows Vista pre installed your going to need this extra power under the hood to run the operating system and any other applications your getting the machine for.
Dont be fooled buy the cheaper prices .. you will regret it 12 months down the road when your machine starts to choke with all the programs you have and thats not to mention all the Windows Vista patches microsoft is going to put out.
But if you have your heart set on a laptop for now .. inquire about one with Windows XP.
Hope this helps ya out
Colin

That's fast enough for most business computing needs. High speed processors tend to draw more battery power, thus shorter working hours on battery mode.
SONY Vaio is pricey. You pay too much for the brand rather than the PC that you get. Well, that's true for almost ALL SONY products. They've built up a premium image on their former products that were MADE IN JAPAN. Now they command a high price on their products that are made in China or somewhere else outside Japan.

A Vaio is too expensive.
1.5Ghz isn't bad. But you can get an HP for alot cheaper with the same speed processor. Make sure its an Intel processor too. Not an AMD.

It's a pretty decent speed; depends what you mostly will be using it for. But as the first answerer said, don't bother with the Sony - go for a Dell or HP to get more for your money. Dell online has great sales....

Worry about the actual processor before you worry about the clock speed. Clock speeds can be misleading as to the performance of the computer. The type of processor is the bigest factor.

it's not too slow. one of my laptops is a dell 1.5ghz with 1gig of ram and it runs vista at a decent speed, has no problem doing fairly heavy stuff in photoshop or anything like that.
but that said, 1.5ghz is at the bottom end of what is an 'ok' speed for xp and vista - if you're wanting to play games you should push for something a bit faster with over 1gig of ram.

Is it brand new? Not suggest to by a laptop over 2years old. a new laptop nowdays is not expensive and with at least one year warranty.
1.49GHZ wasn't bad, depends on what kind of processor it is.

Computer performance has always been an issue.
If you keep your computer free from unwanted stuff, your computer will perform better.
