smileymduke, the American people are the government only in the absence of lobbyists telling politicians what to do, and only if politicians aren't misrepresenting themselves during their campaigns.

I don't distrust the government because we the people are the government but I do distrust the politicians that we have put in positions of authority in Washington. I do fear for my government because we have become so caught up in winning that we don';t care what the person who is running is really like as long as they can win an election.

A huge part of the Constitution was based on preventing tyranny by the government and keeping the governing in the hands of the people. The checks and balances are in place so that it is more difficult for anyone in the government to acquire too much power. However, much of that has been loosened by this administration. Its more important than ever to have very stringent oversight.
It is also more important than ever to elect a president that is tried and true in their experience in government affairs. We can't afford to elect another president who was a drunk for 20 years and bankrupted several companies. We need someone who can stand on their own merit, not just their family ties.

The American people ARE the government. That is exactly what the Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights states, in perfect English.
The sad thing is, there are not enough totally educated English Speaking Americans who studied American History in grade and high school today. So that fact has been forgotten.

Were not the founding fathers traitors to England. So yes our government was founded by rebels and then transformed into another English style government. Look at us our laws look like English laws from the 1600's, believe you me for England to back off the founding fathers paid dearly to England and most likely have to pay for ever. At the time England was no push over you know.

I distrust George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and the Neocons.
It has nothing to do whether I was born and bred to dislike these idiots.
There own actions make them untrustworthy.
