Sweetheart, honesty is the best policy.

And to all those giving crazy advice about relatives that died, dogs that died, people who had to go to the hospital: you´re not exactly being sensible. Teachers check such things. Imagine your teachers meets your mum in the supermarket the week afterwards and says, "Mrs Miller, I am sorry to hear about your dog, that must have been a shock for Liz" - and your mum only goes: "Huh? What are you talking about?" - or the grandma that died turns up for the next school play. I wouldn´t want to be there....

So really, either you "have" an excuse or your sit down and learn. Making an excuse up won´t help and might get you in ever greater trouble than a failed test. :)

The teacher is not going to postpone a test for you alone. Just buckle down and study for it. Take it when it's scheduled.

If your teachers nice try to say your cousin came up from Florida for only a few days and you couldnt study because you spent time with them. If the teacher is mean try that and if it doesnt work i dont know just try it.

Tell her you are not prepared to take the test. If it is due to lack of understanding, ask her for help in the area of studying and retaining text. Ask and you will receive. but be truthful.

I would play the sick card. It works well and there is no way for the teacher really to deny it. Or, play the death in the family card (but you will fell slightly guiltier after this excuse) but you gotta do what you gotta do

For you or the whole class?

If it's just you, you could try talking to her/him individually, telling about a "family problem" or how you are extremely stressed out because of something else going on in your life, etc.
CRYING is always a big help!

You will eventually have to take the test. You might as well get it over with.

You can tell your teacher that you were assaulted the other night and you are traumatized. They won't make you talk about it because it will be "too hard". I did that once and it worked like a charm.
