So far as I know, it's just the finish that's different. The faded one has a pseudo 'worn-in' feel that's not that nice to hold, I tried one (in Merchant City Music, as it happens) and it felt like someone had been at it with the sandpaper.
At this price for a guitar, you MUST try before you buy, and while I'm not that well up on guitar prices right now, they both seem a bit dear for SG Specials. I remember recently seeing them at the £500 mark.

There is no difference in these two axes, apart from cosmetics. The dimensions, pick-ups, number of frets etc are all the same.
The Gibbo SG is a fine instrument, not the best looking guitar around, but very playable and is capable of some magical noise. Listen to AC/DC if you want to hear one. Angus Young, the lead guitarist plays one all the time. It may be a while before your playing like him, but you have to start somewhere matey!
Ps. Blink Who ?

for the type of music youre playing and that youre new to the guitar world, a gibson is a bit high profile. look at some cheaper ones.

Epiphone and Tokai, do some good gibson replicas.

I had a Gibson SG and didnt get on with it. It kept going out of tune too.
Why not try a Strat? Have you tried Rickenbackers?
I like Fender Telecasters myself as well as Strats.
