Okay, I have two answers. First one:
To answer your question, I think girls (or guys) that just pass up (or by) people who are on their way to becoming famous, shouldn't really count. They just want the riches the man (or woman) possess. They don't care to know anyone who is not in the "spotlight" of the public because they themselves WANT to be in the spotlight. So if the person isn't that famous, (or not famous at all) then they don't want anything to do with you. As one person put it "Shallow". :P
Now for my actual answer.
I don't think this is true. I know alot of people who have the potential to become famous, and I LOVE meeting people that have that certain potential because they are more interesting, more goal oriented (most of the time) and who knows, one day, when they become famous, you can sit with them, and look back on the days when we were all just little ants running around trying to get to our destination...now that they have, the true friends are still standing beside them like they were years ago, threw all the tough times and such. Who knows, if someone I know becomes famous, I will have the connections to things I've never had before. I know it sounds selfish, but it's not. Good things are given to people who wait and deserve it. Meaning: If the people that I know that have potential DO ACTUALLY become famous, I myself will feel famous (just as much as them) because I got to see all the ups and downs. I got to know who the person really is, not what the magazines or tv shows of them. I'd have gotten a really interesting friend for life in the process and I'd still know the person when they retire. It's all about knowing, deep down, who the person is, and not what everyone on the outsides sees them as.
I guess I went way off topic here, but that's my heart answer. I have more, just can't really explain it. It's like, it's more of a reward to KNOW KNOW someone that is famous. My great, great grandfather Red was in a band a long time ago called "The Oreos". :) So I feel special to be in a family where huge accomplishments like that have been done. :D
Anyways, enough of my blabber. Someone else might want to answer. ^_^

I don't necessarily think that that's true.
For example, if I had seen Garrett Hedlund on the street or something before he had become famous, I would have reacted the same way....namely--HE'S SOOOO HOT!!!!
I guess that when someone is famous, they get more seen in the public eye. The more someone sees you, people are sure to find you're hot. When they find you're hot, they'll show you to their friends, ans so on and so on. It's like a chain reaction.
Of hotness.

I think a lot of people openly admit to finding people attractive when they are famous... I see attractive people all the time... but I don't know their name, and I'm not going to approach them based on the fact that I find them attractive. :)
But it's easy to say Fergies hot, everyone knows her.
