@ Barrie T : nice try. But you should more precisely say : ils ne savent pas jouer. (I'm not sure you're right)

lack of enthusiasm or preparation maybe? No I seriously think that the English football is great at the club level but not competitive enough at the national level. There is a huge different in technique, tactic and skills when you compare lets say England and Spain for example. England is getting huge help by getting foreign players in at a club level but they need to start exporting players to European teams to mature at the national level.

Because we aren't good enough, plain and simple. I think we are in a similar situation as France after they failed to qualify for USA 1994; after Houllier resigned the France team was rebuilt, and produced some of the best footballers of the modern era (Zizou,Henry,Blanc,Vieira etc). Mclaren is not up to the job, he's a half decent club manager at best. We need a world class manager to get the best out of the current squad and develop newer players.
PS, I can't imagine Croatia have many friends in France, after Bilic's disgraceful cheating in the 1998 semi final, robbing Blanc of a place in the final....?

Spoilt with too much money. A twenty year old person could retire for the rest of their life on the money these so called football stars earn in a year.
If you had millions of pounds/euros in the bank, would you worry about your job? I wouldn't.

what make you think France got the answer, you see this the think, stop looking for answer and Belem in all the wrong places and think about your own team.no it just pisses me off, i was watching the England game after the lost to England, the commutator was talking about the teams that qualify, he said Poland always do great at qualifying and do nothing at the big competition, am not a polish fan, but the matter is English fans and commutator need to think about their team not others you no.

Bad management, injury to their top players. But basically in one word: MCClaren. They played badly, got demoralised by poor player formation. They deserved to lose. Sorry - and I am English,
